These companies produce and distribute products and provide services to business, not to end-users, and services that are provided directly to business, not to consumers. The products are not for redistribution to consumers, but for use by business and industry or for further manufacturing.

Services include all actions necessary to convert raw materials, components, or parts into finished goods that meet a customer’s expectations or specifications. Services can also be subcontracted services.

Materials or items that are not a final-product of a process, but are also used as an input in the production process of some other good. For example, semi-conductors are not commonly used directly by consumers but used by computer manufacturers in the production of finished computers. This is a sub-category to manufacturing.

Industrial goods are made up of machinery, manufacturing plants and materials, and any other good or component used by other industries or firms. Service industry made up of companies that primarily earn revenue through providing intangible products and services. Service industry companies are involved in retail, transport, distribution, food services, as well as other service-dominated businesses.
